Wes moved to Prince George, B.C., in 1974, where he raised his children and began a long and dedicated career in the forest industry, spending over 30 years at Clear Lake Sawmills with Canfor.
A lifelong photographer, Wes had a keen eye for capturing family moments, wildlife, and the natural beauty of the landscapes around him. His travels across British Columbia, Alberta, and a memorable journey to Alaska reflected both his deep appreciation for nature and his enduring connection to loved ones. Regular visits to Saskatchewan to see family were especially meaningful. Whether framing a peaceful forest or a candid gathering, Wes found genuine joy in documenting the world through his lens.
Wes was predeceased by his father Ben, mother Jean, sister Bernice, and brother Ed. He is survived by his son Lars, daughter Marcedes (Sean), and grandchildren Kendal (Ron), Leif (Ashten), and Alivya. He also leaves behind siblings Ruth (Dale), Heather, Mark, Connie, and Lee (Lorne), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear lifelong friends.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the medical teams involved in Wes’s care—from his first hospitalization in the spring to his final days at the Prince George Hospice House. Special thanks to Drs. Anurag Singh, Fareen Din, Iftkhar Khan, as well as Renata D’Alpino Peixoto, Nicole Touhey, and Shannon King. Deep gratitude also goes to the nurses on the FMU at UHNBC and the compassionate staff at the Prince George Hospice.
As per Wes’s wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Prince George Hospice House or BC Cancer.
