

She was born in Jenkinjones, WV on August 20, 1922 to William R. and Minnie Jane Thomas Keys.
She was a member of Gary United Methodist Church and later, Bland Street United Methodist Church and a 50+ year member of the United Methodist Women as well as the American Legion Auxiliary.
She was an avid bridge player, crossword puzzle solver and a voracious reader. Her time was spent caring for the ones she loved, dispensing hugs and wit as needed.
Libby Lavender is preceded in death by her parents, brother Vernon, sisters Irene, Velma and Shirley, and in 2009, by her husband of 63 years, Ken Lavender.
She is survived by sisters Freda Hopkins of Bluefield, Doris Nelson of Midlothian, VA, special cousin Helen Ayers of Powhatan, VA, daughter Rebekah lavender of Overland Park, KS, son Joe Lavender of Raleigh, NC and by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, WV, on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor David Hall officiating. A luncheon will be held at Bland Street United Methodist Church in Bluefield, WV immediately following.
