

C.A. was born in Timberlake, South Dakota on January 30, 1920 to Bill and Etta Hockett. He was raised with four siblings and graduated from Timberlake High School. He attended Northern Teacher College and enlisted in the Army Air Force in 1943, where he was a pilot and flew “The Hump”. He married Eleanor J. Warriner on January 30, 1943.
He returned to Creswell, Oregon after World War II and worked in an electrical appliance store as he continued his education. He began his teaching career in Linslaw, Oregon. C.A. continued his career as a teacher and principal until his retirement at which time he took Eleanor and his fishing pole to the lake to be campground hosts. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. In 1992 C.A. and Eleanor moved to Prineville where he resided until his death.
C.A. was a member of the Oregon Education Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor Jean Hockett; brother Ira Hockett; 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Jean (Doug) Breese, Mary (Robert) Cyphers and Linda (Kenny) Blagg; 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday December 17, 2012 at Prineville Funeral Home.
