Gayle Arment

April 25, 1953 ~ May 1, 2014

Gayle M. Arment passed away at home peacefully on May 1 after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side at the age of 61.

Gayle was born in Klamath Falls, Ore. to Homer and Marcene Holt.

Gayle attended school in Bonanza and Mallin, graduating in the first graduating class of Lost River, Ore.

Gayle worked in retail for Bi-Mart in Klamath Falls. In 1979, she was transferred to the Cottage Grove Bi-Mart where she met the love of her life, Joe Arment. They were married in Curtain, Ore. in 1982 on June 26. Together they raised four children, Randy Brooks of Bend, Ore., Angel (Jason) Sheedy of Australia, Michelle (Chris) Hollis of Prineville, and Wendy (Jamie) Berkebile of Prineville.

Gayle’s pride and joy was her grandchildren; Tiffany (Dustin) Mauch, Jeffrey Berkebile, Jessica Hollis, Brandon Berkebile, Marni Sheedy, Shelby Berkebile, Isebell Sheedy, and Megan Berkebile; great grandson, Brody Mauch, and would have soon welcomed a great-granddaughter.

Gayle is survived by her husband Joe, her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren; her mother, Marcene Kirkpatrick of Merrill, Ore.; a brother, Bob Holt of Eureka, Calif.; sister, Carol Dillon of Crescent City, Calif.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Gayle was preceded in death by her father, Homer Holt; stepfather, “Popo” Kirkpatrick; and sister, Linda Boyd.

Gayle retired form Contact Lumber in 2011 after being diagnosed with lung cancer. She spent the next three years braving the battle with the love and support of her family and friends. Her hobbies included gardening, baking and cooking for her family, vacationing on the Oregon coast, drag racing with Craig and Dannette Overall, and of course, she considered herself the “Number One Oregon Duck Football Fan”.

Gayle will be remembered for her sense of humor, quick wit, and as a friend to all. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 10 at the Eastside Church, 3174 N.E. 3rd St. All are welcome to attend and please dress casual in your Duck gear. A gathering at the Prineville Elks Lodge to follow.
