Joan Gerke

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Prineville Funeral Home Heritage Chapel. Charley Hughbanks will officiate. Joan was born in Bend, Oregon on February 11, 1939 to Zelbert Lawrence and June Valerie (Wood) Braly.

Joan was raised in Prineville, but she moved to Wyoming as a high school sophomore and graduated in 1957 in Casper. She married Robert Leroy Gerke in Redmond, Oregon in 1958. Later on, after a decade stay in California, she moved back to Prineville where she professionally did bookkeeping and accounting for Erickson’s, Dr. Winintzky, Dr. Nance at Ochoco Veterinary Clinic, and Les Sundet Accounting. Joan loved bowling and bowled in several local bowling leagues as well as sewing and quilting. She was also regularly involved with her fellow classmates attending reunions and organizing luncheons. She enjoyed the outdoors and activities such as camping and fishing.

Joan is survived by her brother; Dan Braly of Goldendale, Washington, 3 children; Vicki Kloepper and her husband William, Lawrence Gerke and his wife Leslie, and Dan Gerke all of Prineville, Oregon. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert Leroy Gerke and her sister; Becky McMurdo.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Prineville Memorial Hospice: 1201 Ne Elm St, Prineville, Oregon.
