

ProvidenceAlice M. (Bowles) Frezza, 74, died peacefully Thursday evening, October 13, 2016, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center. She was the beloved wife and soul mate of the late Thomas A. Frezza.Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Donovan) Bowles, she was a lifelong resident of the Smith Hill neighborhood.Alice was a Registered Nurse at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Davis Park, Providence, for the past ten years, and previously worked at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care Center for many years, when it was located on Maude Street. She dedicated her life to comforting and serving the sick of our community, and was also a fierce protector of animals as well.She was a faithful communicant of Saint Agnes Church and an avid New York Yankees fan.She leaves three daughters, Jean M. Frezza, Teresa Berube and Mary A. Nouman and her husband Marc; a brother, Edward Strong; and three granddaughters, Katherine and Valerie Desautel and Jessie M. Nouman. She was a sister of the late William "Billy" Bowles, Gertrude M. Flaherty, and Frances Baxter.The funeral will be held Monday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Agnes Church, 100 Chatham Street, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday, 3:00 - 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Comprehensive Cancer Center of RI, c/o the Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Avenue, Providence, RI 02906 in her memory will be appreciated.
