

Antonia A. (Ramos) Soares, affectionately known as “Tanha,” passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on June 16, 2025. Born in São Nicolau, Cabo Verde, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antonio José Ramos and Ana Maria Soares.
A devoted wife to the late José Maria Ramos Conceição, Tanha was the proud and loving mother of João Conceição, Ana Soares Reis, José Conceição, and the late Cristalina Maria Soares. She was a treasured sister to Maria Ramos, Alda Ramos, and Dulce Ramos, and was predeceased by her brother, Antonio Ramos Jr.
Tanha was the heart and soul of the Conceição/Soares family—a fierce, compassionate woman who led with strength, humor, and boundless love. As the family matriarch, she taught generations the value of unity, faith, and respect. Her unwavering devotion to her Catholic faith and to her family shaped the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She will be forever remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and quick wit that brought warmth and joy to all who knew her. Her legacy lives on through her grandchildren—Fátima, Zilton, Valter, Gilda, Amílcar, Cristiano, Bruce, Liane, Tatiana, and Haile—and her great-grandchildren: Deondre, Dion, Darion, Cristalina, Amya, Benvindo Jr., Deangel, Cristaleah, Ariya, Zayden, Samaya, and Xiomara. Each of them was a source of deep pride and happiness in her life.
Antonia’s life was a beautiful testament to resilience, grace, and unconditional love. She leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift her family for generations to come. She will be deeply and dearly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 23, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 99 Camp St, Providence. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Providence.
