

NIEDZWICKI, CHESTER P., 95, passed away Tuesday surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Dorothy L. (Gregory) Niedzwicki for 68 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Francizak and Helen (Baczynska) Niedzwicki, he lived in Providence most of his life. After graduating from the University of Rhode Island, College of Engineering, he embarked upon an impressive career which spanned five decades. During this time, he attained a wealth of professional experience. He was Project Manager with A.H. Justin Associates for 7 years and Chief Engineer with Jenks and Ballou for 20 years. His work included many notable projects: Chemical Plant for Thompson Chemical Company; Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (formerly U.S. Atomic Energy Commission); 18-in. Cyclotron Station and Auxiliaries for Brookhaven National Laboratory; Radiation Laboratory, Test Facility for Missile Tracking Equipment and other facilities for General Electric Co.; many large scale facilities for Navy bases in Rhode Island and Connecticut; and twelve new exchange buildings for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. He also designed and directed many projects for the State of Rhode Island and federal agencies. He is survived by two daughters, Mary Ann and Barbara J. Niedz, both of Providence, and a son, John G. Niedzwicki, M.D., of North Dartmouth, MA; a sister, Mrs. Margie LaGrant of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Frank, Stanley and John Niedzwicki and Mrs. Stacia Tella. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on SATURDAY at 9am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Atwells Ave, Providence. Interment will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
