Edmund E. Loffredo, 98, of Eliza Street, Providence, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Santina “Tina” (Cerce) Loffredo, with whom he shared 22 cherished years of marriage.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Andrew and Anna (Tutalo) Loffredo.
Ed proudly served his country as a veteran of both the United States Navy during World War II and the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He later worked as a dedicated letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for many years. After his retirement from the Postal Service, Ed continued working for 15 more years at Home Depot, finally retiring at the age of 80.
He was the beloved father of Edmund E. Loffredo, Jr. and his wife Linda, and Lori Manfredo and her companion David Duarte. He was the cherished grandfather of Tina, Peter, Sherry, and Allison, and the proud great-grandfather of nine. Ed was also the brother of the late Michael, Raymond, Rudolf, and Joseph Loffredo; Gloria Patrona; Anna Lombardi; and Eleanor Weigman.
Ed was a man of deep faith, unwavering integrity, and immense strength. A devoted husband, he mourned the loss of his beloved Tina for 48 years while keeping her memory alive through love, faith, and family. He spent the last 18 years of his life in the loving care of his daughter Lori and David, who provided a home filled with compassion and warmth.
Those final years were especially meaningful to him—they were a time of healing, reconnection, and renewed closeness with his family. His faith guided him through life’s challenges, and he expressed his love through song, humor, art, and craftsmanship. His greatest joy came from making others feel loved and cherished.
Ed's legacy is one of hard work, deep faith, and unconditional love. He taught his family, by example, the true meaning of devotion and what it means to put God and family at the center of life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. Ann Cemetery. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted
