Everett J. Lang, 91, died Wednesday, April 21, at Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, where he spent his last weeks in the company of his loving children andgrandchildren, whom he cherished. Husband of 62 years to the late Rita E. (Paquin) Lang, he is survived by his son, Gregory J. Lang (Cranston) and his daughters, Alicia E. Lang (Middletown) and Karen Lang Fusaro (Greenville), who was also his devoted caregiver. He was the father-in-law of the late Diane C. Lang and of Michael Fusaro. Mr. Lang was born in Providence, the third son of the late William J. and Anna St. John (McLean) Lang. He was predeceased by his brother, Joseph, and is survived by his brother, William F. Lang (Cranston) and his family. He will forever be missed by his grandchildren, Melanie E. London; Jennifer E., Andrea J., and Katherine A. Lang; Christopher M., Erin E., and Nicholas P. Fusaro; and by his great-grandchildren Kaitlyn and Cooper. Mr. Lang was a proud grandfather and was generous with his time and his talent, his very sharp wit, and his life experience. Before attending the Rhode Island School of Design, Mr. Lang worked as a silversmith for many years at Gorham's. In 1950, Mr. Lang and his wife founded the GA-REL Mfg. Co. where he served as President until his retirement. He was respected by all who knew him, and especially by his family, for his unparalleled work ethic. Even more inspiring was his ability to balance his dedication to his family and his business with his love of art, literature, travel, and music. Mr. Lang was an avid reader of literature and current affairs throughout his life and was a fan of the National Geographic magazine for more than 60 years. He traveled the world with his late wife and as a young couple the Lang's spent their time square dancing, camping, and building their business, their home, and their family. Mr. Lang enjoyed golf and was a longtime member of the Quidnessett Country Club, where he also celebrated many special occasions with his family and friends. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church, Cranston. Mr. Lang was a fine storyteller, an exceptionally talented painter, and a great entertainer. He was a gifted pianist, and his family looked forward to his holiday performances, but he could often be heard practicing old favorites and composing his own arrangements. In his final days, Mr. Lang's family was comforted at the sight of his hands moving over a set of ivories that only he could see. That Mr. Lang was able to achieve so much after having survived rheumatic fever and cancer of the throat in his youth, is a testament to his strong will and his belief in the rewards of living life well; that he counted his family among these rewards is a gift, they will always treasure. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Mr. Lang and to honor hismemory. His funeral will be Saturday, May 1, at 8:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, Oaklawn Avenue Cranston. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours Friday, April 30th, 4 - 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in his memory will be appreciated. boyleandsonfuneralhome.com
