Born in Brooklyn, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ciro and Catherine (Urso) Bruno.
Frances was an Administrative Assistant for Marsh McLennon Insurance Co. of New York for many years before retiring.
She was the cherished mother of Concetta “Connie” Gucciardo and beloved sister of the late Benedetto Bruno, Lena Bruno, Jean Bruno, Gail Grammatico and Diana Cummo. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews and many friends.
When people say someone “lived life to the fullest,” they often mean they stayed busy, traveled often, or filled their days with activity. But Frances truly loved life. She loved waking up to a new day, loved conversation, laughter, friendship, and the simple joy of being with people she cared about.
She had a way of making others feel seen and welcome. Anyone who ever met her remembers her — and more importantly, remembers how she made them feel. She had friends everywhere because she treated people with warmth, kindness, and genuine interest. Being around her felt easy. She brought lightness into a room.
And she was funny — effortlessly funny. She had a sharp wit and a sense of humor that could catch you off guard in the best possible way. She could make people laugh with just a look, a perfectly timed comment, or one of her unforgettable observations. Even in difficult moments, she found a way to bring humor and keep everyone smiling.
What made her so special was not only that she loved the people in her life, but that people loved her right back. Deeply. Naturally. Instantly. She created connections wherever she went, and those connections lasted.
The loss we feel today is immense because her presence was immense. But so is the gratitude. How lucky we were to have been loved by her, laughed with her, and shaped by her.
She leaves behind more than memories. She leaves behind joy, stories, friendships, laughter, and a reminder to embrace life the way she did — fully, openly, and with humor.
We will all miss her every day. But we will also carry her in our hearts every day — in the laughter we hear, in the stories we continue to tell, and in the love she gave so freely.
