Francis T. McCarthy

Francis T. McCarthy, 68, of Post Road, passed away Wednesday, July 14 at Kent Hospital. He was the husband of Joyce A. (Lewanowicz) McCarthy. They were married for 25 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Francis and Julia (Golobouskas) McCarthy. Mr. McCarthy was a 1959 graduate of LaSalle Academy, and graduated with a BBA from Johnson & Wales University. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, as a Sergeant, serving from 1959 - 1963 and 1966 - 1970. During the time he served he was a Purple Heart Recipient. Prior to retirement, Francis served as a Federal Police Officer for the RI Veterans Administration Medical Center in Providence. After retirement he was employed as a Bus Driver for First Student, Inc. Besides his wife he leaves two sisters, Lois (McCarthy) Moran, of Salem, MA, and Doreen (McCarthy) O'Gara, of North Providence; he was the uncle of, Jaime Otis, Christine O'Gara, and Tiffany (Moran) Seal; great uncle of, Jakob O'Gara and Abigail Seal. Committal prayers with military honors will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am, in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Arrangements by Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, Warwick
