

Cranston Connors, Gerald S. "Jerry", 62, of Alpine Estates Drive, died Sunday at Rhode Island Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Mainelli) Connors. They had been married nearly 36 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late William K. and A. Rita (Hetherman) Connors, "Jerry" lived in Providence most of his life. He also lived in East Greenwich, and Narragansett, before moving to Cranston three years ago. He was employed by the State of Rhode Island for thirty two years, retiring due to health reasons. He battled Multiple Sclerosis for the past twenty seven years.He started his career with the State of Rhode Island working as a Senate Page, for newly elected Senator J. Joseph Garrahy and continued in the Legislative Council Office. Upon his election to Lieutenant Governor in 1968, Joe Garrahy appointed him to serve as his Administrative Assistant, where he served until 1976. He retired from his position as Deputy Director of Personnel, Rhode Island Department of Labor & Training, in 1995. He was also a well known Realtor in the South County area for many years. He was a member of the Washington County Board of Realtors, the Rhode Island Association of Realtors, and the National Association of Realtors. As a young man he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd Degree, Dillon Council, a former President of the State C.Y. O. and the National C.Y.O. In 1973, he was named C.Y.O. Man of the Year.Beside his wife, he leaves twin daughters, Kristen A. Connors, Kelly A. Buonaccorsi and her husband Michael, all of Cranston, four brothers; William F. Connors, and his twin, J. Richard Connors, both of North Kingstown, Robert K. Connors of Providence, James K. Connors of Kissimmee, Florida, and two grandsons, his pride and joy, Connor J. and Christopher M. Buonaccorsi. He also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.The funeral will be held Thursday, at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Apostle Church, Pippin Orchard Road, Cranston. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4 - 8 pm.
