Honerable John L. McElroy

McElroy, Sr., Honorable John L., age 89 of Providence And Portsmouth RI, passed away on March 8th at Orchard View Manor. He was the husband of the late Mary(Taber)McElroy Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Eugene McElroy, Esq. and Louise(Brown). Judge McElroy was a 1940 graduate of Providence College, a 1942 Graduate of Boston University school of law, a member of The RI & MA Bar Assoc., He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, Commandeered from Cornell University as a Officer. He was a active member of the US Navy fleet Tug Assoc. He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church in Portsmouth, St. Patrick Church, Smith Hill, and St. Sebastian. Loving father of John L. McElroy Jr. Esq. of Barrington, Mary Louise McElroy of Providence and Kathy E. McElroy of Riverside. Brother of James E. McElroy of ME, grandfather of Caitlin, Kelsey McElroy and Jason Martins. He was the brother of the late Rev. Christopher McElroy O. Carm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on FRIDAY at 11am in St. Sebastian Church, Providence. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday from 4 to 7pm in The Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home 331 Smith St.,Providence RI.
