

West Warwick J. Roger DuPont, 90, of Crossbow Lane, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at his home. He was the loving husband of Esther M. (Piper) DuPont and the late Ann (McGair) DuPont. Born in South Bellingham, MA, he was the twin son of the late Gaspard L. and Laurette M. (Fortin) DuPont. He attended Providence schools and Brown University under the Navy V-5 Aircorp training program and was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Subsequently he served aboard a U.S. Navy LSM 375 during World War II in the South Pacific and Asia as Quartermaster 3C.After graduating from Bryant College, he joined Affiliated FM Insurance Company, a then subsidiary of Allendale Mutual Insurance Company, now known as FM Global Insurance, as a fire protection engineer. He later became "Engineer In Charge" of the New York City office with jurisdiction over the New York tri-state area for ten years. He was then reassigned as Account Executive, responsible for sales and servicing accounts while he lived in Connecticut and New Jersey for 25 years. Following retirement from Allendale Insurance in 1983, he was self-employed as an engineering consultant for 10 years. As an ardent fisherman, he obtained his captains license, enabling him to provide fishing charters in local and offshore waters. Additionally, he earned his private pilot's license and frequently flew for recreation.He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Rhody Fly Rodders Fishing Club.In addition to his wife Esther, he is survived by a son, Roger A. DuPont and his wife Carla, of Arlington, Massachusetts; a daughter, Nancy D. Keifer and her husband Geoff of Wethersfield, Connecticut; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. His daughter, Meredith DuPont, and his brother, Adrien DuPont proceeded him in death. The funeral service will be held Friday, at 9:30 am, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity in his memory will be appreciated.
