

James V. Murphy , 87, of North Kingstown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, February 9, 2018. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late John J. and Marion A. (Ryan) Murphy. He was the husband of the late Ann M. (Sullivan) Murphy. He was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence, Class of 1950, where he was a member of the hockey team. Jim also graduated from RISD in 1957 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Machine Design. He served his country in the US Naval Reserves, on the radar ship USS Kirkpatrick. James was a co-founder of the former EMC in Woonsocket, and then later started Advanced Interconnections which he served as the founder and CEO for thirty-five years. He enjoyed family and friends, a good meal, painting, boating, and was an avid sports fan. James is survived by his children, Michael J. Murphy, of East Greenwich, Sheila A. Vinacco, of Warwick , Mary E. Lada, (Walter), of North Kingstown, Ann M. Ross, (John), also of North Kingstown, James R. Murphy (Rike) of Warwick. He is also survived by two brothers, Edward L. Murphy, of Peoria, AZ and Frank E. Murphy, of Newport, 10 loving grandchildren, Erin, Chelsea, Courtney, Shelby, Michael James, Brendan, Kaylyn, Catharine, Ryan, and Sean; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers the late John J. Murphy and Robert E. Murphy. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at 8:45 am , from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt . 117) WARWICK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am , in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick . Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours, Monday, February 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm.
