

John A. Silva, 73, of North Providence passed away peacefully on Saturday April 4, 2026 at home surrounded by loved ones. Born in Providence, RI, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ida (Castrignano) Silva. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann Silva.
John drove truck for 45 years at the New England Produce Center and the Boston Market Terminal. He retired from Sid Wainer & Son in 2015 after 25 years. John enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters, visiting Maine and New Hampshire, and working on home improvement projects. He loved to travel with his wife, and later with his daughters and their families.
For 12 years, John was the caregiver for his wife Ann who passed away in 2025. He never once thought about leaving her side even while battling his own illness.
John leaves behind his daughters Deanna Silva (Robert) of Dover, NH and Rayna Silva-Viera (Joshua) of Warren, RI. He was the beloved grandfather of Ivy and Lucy Viera of Warren, RI. He was also the brother of Angela Carbone, Linda Simmons, Donna Silva, and the late Maryann Ferrante, Frank Silva, Joseph Silva Jr., Ralph Silva and Emma Silva.
In his final days, John was lovingly cared for by his daughters, his daughter's partner Robert, his sister Donna Silva and a family friend, Michelle Peachie.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 10am to 11am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am in the Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Ave. Providence, RI. The burial will be private.
