Joe was blessed with many God given talents, enough to fill a lifetime. While mostly self-taught, among his favorites was his love for composing, singing and performing his music. He ventured into different instruments, but mainly loved his Martin Guitar, which he would showcase at family events and holidays reciting your favorite tunes. He composed many original songs and marketing jingles, such as the renowned “Pizza Chip” jingle he developed for “The Original Italian Bakery”.
Joe also had a passion for the outdoors, as an avid hunter & fisherman he traveled through some of the most iconic destinations in America such as Montana, Idaho and Colorado just to name a few.
He also loved to hunt exotic mushrooms, of which he would teach anyone who was willing to learn how to prepare and preserve them. Cooking was a passion for Joe. Although, mostly old country style Italian was his niche, especially homemade sausage, he also learned to cook other cultural cuisine such as Chinese noodles and authentic Chinese fried rice.
Joe was a huge history buff, he would always reflect on some of the most historic chapters of American history around a dinner table or over a cigar. Joe was always able and willing to help on any given project for any of his loved ones.
Truly a great man, friend and an even greater family member, a presence that will never be forgotten.
Joe was born in Providence in 1939 and was a son of the late Rocco & Marguerite DeLuca.
He was one of eight siblings; he was predeceased by Alice Gelardo, Frank DeLuca, Virginia Cinquegrana and Rocco Deluca and is survived by his sisters Geraldine Hartshorn, Sandra Paolucci and brother Robert DeLuca. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and cherished great nieces and nephews, whom he will be sadly missed by.
