
New York City Joseph C.Hagan, 84, of New York, passed away on Monday after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of the late Mary M. (Hynes) Hagan. Born and raised in East Greenwich, Rhode Island, he was a son of the late Charles T. and Emma (McGettrick) Hagan.Joe proudly served in the United States Navy during World War II and retired as Legal Counsel and Assistant Secretary for the Hearst Corporation. He also taught law for Marino Law Review Course and co-authored several law books. Mr. Hagan was a graduate of Providence College, New York University, where he earned a Masters Degree, and Fordham University, where he earned a Law Degree.Joe leaves his five children: Charles T. Hagan of Fredricksburg, VA; Patricia A. Travers, of Brooklyn, NY; William H. Hagan of Needham, MA; Joseph C. Hagan of Yardley, PA; and Laura M. Feketie of Lutherville, MD., a sister, Eileen Elizabeth Frances O'Connell of Providence, RI , and eleven loving grandchildren. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence, RI. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Friday, 5 - 8 pm.
