

Joseph R. Kane, 78, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning, April 13, 2016, at Kent Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Alice E. (Maguire) Kane. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary next month. Born in Cumberland, he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Ruth (Buckley) Kane. Joe was an electrician for ON Semiconductor Corporation, formerly Cherry Semiconductor, for many years before retiring in 2001. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy, was a longtime communicant and Minister of the Eucharist at Saints John & Paul Church, Coventry. Joe was also a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. Blessing Council. In addition to his wife Alice, he leaves a daughter, Kathleen M. Solgot and her husband Theodore; a son, James J. Kane; a brother, Edward J. Kane; two sisters, Dorothy Letourneau and Margaret Bridge; and a loving granddaughter, Lily Solgot. He was a brother of the late Charles W. Kane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday morning, at 10:00 am, in Saints John & Paul Church, 341 South Main Street, Coventry, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Visiting hours Friday, 5:00 - 8:00 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick.
