Classical High School.  I remember how after his stroke he sprang back and continued to teach
The kids loved him.  He was so generous, caring and kind.  So sorry to hear of his passing

Dear Jen and family,
I just heard about Kenny's passing - I am so sorry and sad!   Although I hadn't seen him in such a long time, our years as neighbors and pals are engrained in my mind and in my heart as happy childhood memories.   Those were truly the "good old days" when we rode our bikes for miles, climbed trees, played by the train tracks (a little too close at times!), built forts, raked leaves and shoveled snow for money, only to spend it at the penny candy store -- and we talked and laughed non-stop.  That is how I will remember him.  Moving to Norwood Ave. was the best thing my parents did!   We were all like family.  
Peter and his brothers also send their condolences.   They have fond memories of hanging out with David, Kenny and many others in the neighborhood and playing sports.  Please know you are in our thoughts during this sad time.

I had the greatest pleasure of having Mr. Sullo as my history teacher during my freshman year and my psychology teacher during my senior year at Classical High School. He made such a big impact on my life. From his jokes to his anecdotes on a daily basis, he became my favorite person at school during my years at Classical. To the family, my sincere condolences he will truly be missed. I will keep all of you all in my prayers.  So saddened by this news.

Mr. Sullo was so supportive helpful and encouraging with my son. He took the time to help him build his confidence and navigate his development and learning. He was always so patient and  made sure to engage parents and students Sincere condolences, sending peace to your family.

I was not fortunate enough to have Mr. Sullo as a teacher but I was one of the knuckleheads invading his classroom at Feinstein. Always took my antics in stride. Funny and kind hearted. 

My condolences to his family, he will surely be missed.

Ken was one of the kindest, most intelligent people I have ever had the privilege to work with.  I will fondly remember the countless times he came down to the Library to look for yet another book on medieval history.

Mr Sullo was one of my (and I’m sure many others) favorite teachers. I had him for one class my senior year. He had a way of understanding where we were in that time of our lives and allowed us to enjoy our final year at classical by not making the class about the subject that was taught but more about realizing what had in the moment before we all move onto the next phase in our lives. High school is a funny moment in time where we feel like this was mountain peak and that we know how life will be moving forward. Reality sure gave us a different truth. I appreciate Mr Sullo for just being a person that was so empathic to who we were. Do I remember what he taught us, probably not, but the person he was was more meaningful than what he taught. 
Best memory: I was walking with a broken pair of taped up and glued glasses for a while now. One day as a joke, I was asking for donations from all the kids at school (called it the Tido Fund haha) and when I got to his class, I asked him too. He said if I could get an A in his class and got exempt from the finals he'd buy me a pair of glasses. And the man stuck to his word. That kindness I received, I’ve always tried to pay it forward. Thanks the memories and the lessons.

Daniel “Tido” Phrasathane

My favorite memory of this guy was all the names he called students he gave warnings to. Knuckleheads, bozos, clowns all in comedic fashion because a lot the times, these kids weren’t even in his class lol. Some never even had his class lol. They were former students in their senior year, they were current students goin to another class but wanted to stop by to tell a dad joke or ask for extra credit. I was all those names lol and I had him my junior year. He encouraged our personalities and passions and prepared us to become awesome young adults for college and for life. Mr. Sullo is forever a legend. His family should know he was a huge impact on us then, and is now still.

Mr. Sullo was one of the handful of significantly influential mentors in my lifetime.  He undoubtedly helped mold me and many of peers into the people we are today.  I can only imagine the number of other students that eventually became better adults than they would have been if they had not crossed his path.  His legacy is nothing short of legendary.  RIP Sullo.

Words cannot express my deepest condolences to Kennys family. I only knew Kenny as a child growing up but I knew he would be a great person in all he wanted to achieve. May you rest in peace my beautiful stepson from long ago never forgotten 💔💔

I am so sorry to hear of Ken's passing  I had the pleasure of working with him at Feinstein High School for a few  years before he moved to Classical. He  was a great history teacher. I can remember students coming back from RIC and saying that he is the reason they passed Western Civilization. He loved what he taught and cared so much for his students. Rest in Peace Ken.

I am saddened to hear of Ken's death. He was my colleague and friend at Classical since his arrival there in 2001 and for the past 22 years he was in the room next door to me. We had many conversations and always shared a laugh or two. He was a kind and  considerate man who always brought his cultured, learned perspective to the classroom and his students. I shall miss him! I know the last few years were difficult for him; his health concerns made him nervous and doubtful. He is at peace now , God bless his soul. Take care.

Mr. Sullo let me leave all my school supplies and sports stuff throughout my high school career. From tennis racquets, to soccer cleats, to volleyballs.  I enjoyed stopping by his class multiple times a day and chatting with him and other classmates who he liked. Always in a good mood and keen to say something witty. Having him freshman year, his class was the first time I began investing into my academic success. Ever since then, I haven’t stopped and do not plan on it. You will be missed by so many  students, truly a great and inspiring teacher.

Rest in peace Mr. Sullo, you were a wonderful teacher and provided an amazing space for us.

Mr. Sullo was an absolutely wonderful human being. Knew a lot about Psychology and always had a story to tell.

I’m glad to have had him as a teacher and as a mentor in high school.

I am very sorry to hear of Mr. Sullo’s passing. I was in his Psychology class at Classical High in 2019 and into the start of the pandemic. He was truly a great teacher and a great person. So many great memories there. And I will never forget his favorite saying: “Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when we practice to deceive.” 

I will keep his friends and family in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 


David Salzillo

I had Mr.Sullo for history my freshman year of high school, I can say without a doubt he was one of the best teachers in that school. We had a great relationship and he always helped students understand the assignment. I also had him my senior year of high school as my psychology teacher. I felt like I came full circle having him at the beginning and end of my high school career. I hope he knows that he has had a tremendous impact on our graduating class and that he will always be remembered.

Sending love and prayers to Mr. Sullo’s family and loved ones. As everyone knows he was one of the best teachers out there especially at Classical. Having dedicated over a decade of teaching to one institution he really left his mark on so many of us. For me specifically it was such a pleasure being heard, feeling valued and understanding my way through Mr. Sullo’s mentorship. He will be greatly missed.

One of the realest, kindest teachers at Classical high school. We still talk about and think of only good things about him after all these years-  graduation being over 6 years ago. And I’m sure many more of his students can agree.

Mr. Sullo was truly the best at CHS! I wasn't sure about my major as I was applying to college but after taking his psych course it inspired me to go into the field, and now I have a degree in it! Thank You so much Mr. Sullo, you were a great teacher and I'll never forget your famous quote that always made me laugh "it depends on my mood",  I hope you know how many students you left an impact on <3 <3

Oh Mr.Sullo he was definitely a character I had him as a junior in a senior psychology class I was one of the only juniors in his class. He definitely was one of my favorite teachers he cared about his students til the end. The week of him retiring he gave his students some of his toys from his toy collection and I had him sign mine and I will never loose it or forget it because his toys was one thing he was known for all over his class and also as bathroom passes. Even on his days where he wasn't feeling his best he would still crack jokes with us. And I will never forget the time he kicked me out of the elevator swinging his cane around he always knew how to make us laugh.

Mr. Sullo was truly one of the best. I had the honor to have him as my 12th grade psychology teacher. I, along with a few other of my classmates, used to have lunch with him often. He never minded us bothering him- I like to think we were making his day when in reality he was making ours. He always wanted the best for his students, always encouraged us to do better than we were. Not many teachers had an impact on me, but Mr. Sullo did. He was a man of honor and truth, and I could not be more lucky to have known him. Rest easy Mr. Sullo. You may not be here physically, but you will live on forever.

I remember I had Mr. Sullo for history during 2nd period my freshman year. I also remember I had gym 1st period and I knew for a fact Mr. Sullo would’ve had my head if I came to class late all the way from gym. I even harassed Mr. Jackson into writing me passes when I knew I’d be late to Mr. Sullo’s. Then spring time came, and I had signed up for softball. However, my bat bag wouldn’t fit in my locker so I had to carry it around with me all day. On day 2 of carrying it, Mr. Sullo said to me “you know you can just leave it in here, right?” And I felt so relieved LOL. From then on I kept my books and bat bag behind a plant in the corner of the room and eventually graduated to having my own shelf in his classroom closet. I didn’t even need to use the shelf at one point anymore, but I still went in to the class to say hi regardless. We took this photo on toga day, right after I had him for psychology. On behalf of all Classical students who had the pleasure of being taught by him, he’ll surely be missed❤️

Mr. Sullo was one of my favorite teachers at Classical. I had him for history in ninth grade then once more as a senior for psych in 2014-2015, along with about 5 other students who had him for the second time. He treated us 5 so special. Aside from that, he was truly a great person who cared about his students. Mr. Sullo will be truly missed, but will be forever remembered by his students as one of the greatest.
