

Brady, Lt. George L., Sr, age 83 of Atlantic Ave, passed away at home following a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Christopher L. and Bridget C. (Brett) Brady. He was the beloved husband of Ruth (Dowling) Brady. Mr. Brady was a retired Lt. with the Providence Fire Department, serving the city for over 25 years. He was employed with Meals on Wheels, serving the community until age 80. He was the valedictorian of the 1950 class of Johnson and Wales University. He was a WWII Army veteran, serving in the Philippines. A devoted family man, in addition to his beloved wife of 56 years, he leaves his children Ann-Marie Peckham and husband Roy of Sandwich, MA; George L. Brady, Jr and wife Karen of Bourne, MA; Peggi LaTorre and husband Peter of Cranston; and Patricia E. Brady of No.Providence. He was the brother of Celia Nevins of No. Kingstown, Christine Caswell of Hollliston, MA, and the late Florence Crowley of Cranston. He was the "Pop-Pop" of Ron, Joe, Peter Jr, Jennifer, Jacalyn and Dean and the great-grandfather of Gia, Chloe and Eric. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:45 am from the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Holy Name of Jesus Church, Camp St., Providence. Interment will follow in RI Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 4 to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in George's memory to: Home and Hospice Care of RI or to St. Jude Children's Hospital would be deeply appreciated.
