Marilyn A. (DiGiulio) Koutros, 81, entered heaven's gates on Wednesday, December 2, 2015. She was the wife of the late George Koutros. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Samuel C. and Antonetta (Tella) DiGiulio. She was the beloved mother of David Verducci and his wife Pat, Brendalee Smith and Lisa Verducci; grandmother of David Jr. and his wife Paula, Kristine, John-Paul and his wife Stephanie, Robert, Nicholas, Ariana, Evan, Matt, Briana, Destiny, and Drew; great-grandmother of Mya, Marcus, Sophie, and David III; sister of Vincent DiGiulio, Rita Leonardo and the late Eleanor Mancini and Samuel DiGiulio Jr; and the former wife of Pasco A. Verducci. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was a very special woman who is fondly remembered by her family and friends as loving, faithful and generous with a passion for teaching that was rooted in her love for children. At the beginning of her Christian journey, Marilyn had a passion for serving in multiple ministries at her church. She further developed this service into a ministry at Saint Anthony that would visit and care for clergy members in need; whether at the hospital or in their homes.
But perhaps most importantly, she had an immeasurable love for those close to her. She enjoyed cooking impressive Italian meals, playing cards with her grandchildren, and watching football while dressed head-to-toe in Patriots gear. Her quick sense of humor and loving company will be forever missed.
Marilyn will live on in those who have been touched by her love, strength, conviction, wisdom, and beauty of her soul. Her family is so grateful to God for giving them the gift of Marilyn and for allowing her to be such an irreplaceable part of their lives. The time spent together will be a source of strength to carry the family through the rest of their lives until they are reunited where it first began, in the presence of the Lord.
Visitation and funeral will be held on Saturday, 9-10:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI 02904. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, Marilyn would be best honored by donations made in her name to the Ask Mom Fund c/o Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
