Mary E. Gregoire

ProvidenceGregoire, Mary E., 79, of Williams Street, Fox Point, died Saturday at the Waterview Villa Nursing Home, East Providence. She was the wife of the late Norman F. "Benny" Gregoire. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Thomas M. and Catherine T. (Casey) Griffin, she was a lifelong resident of the Fox Point neighborhood. Mrs. Gregoire was a communicant of Saint Joseph Church, Hope Street, and a member of the Fox Point Senior Center. She leaves a daughter; Mary Ellen Hartford, and five sons; Michael J. Gregoire, Thomas G. Gregoire, Norman F. Gregoire Jr., James D. Gregoire, Gerald P. Gregoire, eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mary was a "Gold Star Sister", having lost her only brother, Michael J. Griffin, who was killed in action in Salerno, Italy, during World War II, while serving in the United States Navy. The funeral will be held Saturday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph Church, Hope Street, Providence. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Friday, 4 - 8 pm.
