

MARY ALICE "MAUREEN" LYONS (O'GARA) 76, a resident of Providence for 17 years and a resident of Warwick for 42 years, co-owner of the Harp & Shamrock, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2013, at her home in Warwick, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Patrick Lyons. They were married for 52 years. Maureen was born and raised in County Sligo, Ireland. She came to United State of America in 1955 sponsored by an uncle. She worked as a house keeper on the East Side of Providence until she married Patrick Lyons. She was the daughter of the late Thomas and Alice (McGill) O'Gara. Affectionately known as Maureen, she devoted her life as caretaker to many family members and friends. She loved to laugh, joke and especially cook. Her favorite time was Thanksgiving when family and friends gathered to savor the countless family favorites and traditional foods cooked to perfection. She loved her children and grandchildren. She also loved her Native home of Ireland and traveled there every summer. Maureen will be remembered as a strong and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed. Besides her husband Patrick, she was the mother of John Lyons, of South Carolina, Thomas Lyons of Pennsylvania, Barbara Lyons-Croker, of Warwick, Peter Lyons of Warwick, Erin Lyons, of County Sligo, Ireland; proud grandmother of Meghan Croker, Samantha Lyons, William Croker III, Emily Lyons- Micucci, Alexandria Lyons, Patrick Lyons, Sean Lavin and the sister of Kathleen Gillerlane, Peggy McCoy, Agnes Feeney, the late Paddy O'Gara, Nancy Gill, Thomas O'Gara and Liam O'Gara. Maureen's funeral will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 at 8:15 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Rt. 117 - Exit 10 off I95) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Peter's Church, 350 Fair Street, Warwick. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting Hours will be on Friday, August 9, 2013 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
