

North ProvidenceCapracotta, Maureen B., 72, of Carriage Way, died Wednesday evening at home, surrounded by her loving and caring children. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen A. Capracotta. Born in North Providence, a daughter of the late John T. Leyden, Sr. (Retired Chief, North Providence Police Department) and Rose M. (Hannifan) Leyden, she was a life long resident of North Providence. Mrs. Capracotta was a telephone operator for the State of Rhode Island, an attendance clerk for the North Providence School Department, and a booking agent for the Rhode Island Veterans Auditorium, for twenty years, retiring in 2000. She was a communicant of Saint Augustine Church, Providence, and a 1952 graduate of North Providence High School. Maureen leaves a son, Stephen J. (Lisa) Capracotta, (Lieutenant, Providence Fire Department) of North Smithfield, two daughters, Susan M. (Vincenzo) Nassi, (Teacher, McGuire School, North Providence) of Lincoln, and Sharon A. Papigiotis, R.N., of North Providence, a brother, Captain John T. Leyden, Jr. (Rhode Island State Police Adjutant, Retired), of North Providence and West Palm Beach, Florida, two sisters, Jane A. Angell and Kathleen M. Doyle, both of North Providence, and seven grandchildren, Stephen, Alyssa, Gianna, Capracotta, twins Sofia and Vincenzo Nassi, and Alexa and Ava Papigiotis.. The funeral will be held Monday, at 9:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Sunday, 3 - 7 pm.
