Mercedes Redondo

Mercedes "Dollys" (Batista) Redondo, 62, passed away October 16, 2017. She was the beloved wife of Pedro E. Redondo. Born in the Dominican Republic, she was a daughter of the late Ramon and Minerva (Tavarez) Batista. Mercedes was the loving mother of Larissa M. Munoz and her husband Odlyn B. Munoz, and Arlene M. Redondo; devoted grandmother of Massiel and Osiris Munoz. She was the sister of Ramona Nunez, Eusebio, Vielka, Elizabeth, Justo, Arys, Luis and Cristian Batista and the late Margarita Batista.

Mercedes graduated as elementary school teacher from Emilio Prud'Homme High school in 1976. She continued her education at the Catholic Madre & Maestra University and graduated as a Certified Public Accountant in 1981. She completed her Master’s Degree in Spanish Education from the University of Rhode Island and the University of Salamanca, Spain, Class of 2005. She was a teacher for the Providence School Department for 13 years and previously she taught fifth grade in the Dominican Republic for 10 years. She enjoyed dancing, shopping, decorating, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family. Even though she wasn't the most skilled in the kitchen and using electronics, she was an expert in cleaning. We will always remember your radiant smile.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 19th, 5-8 p.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, R.I. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral service Friday, October 20th, at 9 a.m. in the Redwood Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, R.I. Graveside burial will immediately follow. Mercedes "Dollys" (Batista) Redondo, 62, falleció el 16 de Octubre del 2017. Era la amada esposa de Sr.Pedro E. Redondo. Nació en la República Dominicana, fue la hija de los ya fallecidos Sr. Ramón y la Sra. Minerva (Tavarez) Batista. Mercedes fue la adorable madre de Larissa M. Muñoz y su esposo Odlyn B. Muñoz, y Arlene Redondo; dedicada abuela de Massiel y Osiris Muñoz. Sus hermanos: Ramona Núñez, Eusebio, Margarita (fallecida),Vielka, Elizabeth, Justo, Arys, Luis y Cristian Batista.

Mercedes fue graduada como Maestra de Enseñanza Primaria en la Escuela Normal Emilio Prud'Homme en el 1976. Continuó sus estudios en la Universidad Católica Madre & Maestra como Licenciada en Contaduría Pública Autorizada en 1981. Concluyó sus estudios con una Maestría en Español de la Universidad de Rhode Island y la Universidad de Salamanca, España, Promoción del 2005. Asimísmo, también trabajó como maestra para Providence School Department por 13 años y previamente, enseñó para el 5to. grado de la primaria en la Republica Dominicana por 10 años. Usualmente, disfrutaba de bailar, ir de compras, decorar, jardinería, viajar y compartir con su familia. Aunque, ella no era muy diestra en la cocina y manejando los equipos electronicos, ella era una experta en la limpieza. Siempre recordaremos su sonrisa brillante.

Sus restos mortales serán expuestos el Jueves, 19 de Octubre, 5-8pm en el Pontarelli-Marino Funeral Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, R.I. Familiares y amigos están invitados al servicio fúnebre, el Viernes, 20 de Octubre, a la 9 a.m. en el Redwood Chapel en Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence, R.I. seguido después será efectuado el acto sepulcral.
