

BurrillvilleOwen E. Mooney, Jr., 77, of Lake Shore Drive, died Sunday at home. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Owen E. Mooney, Sr. and Dorothea B. (Crowell) Mooney. Mr. Mooney was the proprietor of Capitol Gulf Station, on Smith Hill, for twenty years, and later, Greenville Gulf Station for six years, before retiring in 1990. Owen was well known in the Antique Car Community for his expertise in fixing older cars, as well as his love of old cars. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. Owen leaves two sons, Michael K. Mooney, and Allen E. Sinclair, Sr.; and three grandchildren, Michael, Allen and Amanda. He was the father of the late Mary Ellen Mooney, and brother of the late Robert Mooney, Marilyn Mooney and Dolores Woods. The visitation will be held Friday morning, at 8:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. The Funeral Service will begin at 9:00 am. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George Street, Pawtucket, RI 02860 in his memory will be appreciated.
