Peter was born in Pawtucket, the son of the late Joseph M. Jutras and Estelle H. Jutras (née Plouffe), on May 5, 1956. He is survived by his children; Michael Jutras and his wife Megan of Seattle, Washington, and Tricia Grant and her husband John of Cranston, Rhode Island. He was a loving grandfather to two grandchildren, Charley Peter Jutras and Neve Juliette Grant. He also leaves his sister Lucille, his brothers Eugene, Richard, Ronald, and John, and his former spouse and good friend Maria. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Annette Govalet, Elaine McCarthy, and Arlene Jutras.
He graduated from Pawtucket West High School and was a veteran of the United States Navy and the Rhode Island Air National Guard. He was proud of his military service; among other duties, he served aboard the USS Camden in the 1970s, and he would fondly recount his experiences travelling the world with the Navy.
Peter spent his entire life close to the ocean; he was an avid sailor, owning several boats throughout his lifetime, and he could almost always be found near the water. He was also passionate about music, and enjoyed playing songs by the Beatles and the Who on the guitar. He loved living in Rhode Island and particularly enjoyed driving vintage cars and motorcycles around the state, often taking the "scenic route" to visit friends and family in the area. He was enthusiastic about bicycling and antique collecting, and he was especially skilled with handiwork; he preferred to stay busy with several active projects at all times, and along with renovating houses, boats, and cars, in his later years he enjoyed gardening and constructing handcrafted gifts for loved ones.
Private burial with Military Honors will take place at Rhode Island Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
