

He was the husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Vitacolonna) Salvatore; son of the late Carmino and Blanche Rose (Baccari) Salvatore; father of Robert V. Salvatore Jr. and his wife Naomi, Donald J. Salvatore, and David A. Salvatore and his wife Darlene; grandfather of David, Nicholas, Emma, Alexander and Christopher; and brother of Elaine F. Amaral and Nancy C. Angell.
Robert Salvatore was a salesman for most of his career, but also dedicated much of his life to the community and public service. He was a Cub Master, Little League coach, and a team sponsor. He had the honor of being a delegate to Rhode Island’s Constitutional Convention, served on the Providence City Council from 1975 until 1983, and was a candidate for Mayor of Providence in 1983.
Robert was extremely proud of his 3 children and 5 grandchildren, frequenting their sporting events and special school activities. His fondest memories were of his many years camping and sailing with his beloved family.
Visitation Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Edward Food & Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI 02904.
