

SOUTH KINGSTOWN Rosalind M. "Rona" Flynn (Morrissey) 81, Retired Sergeant, Providence Police Department, of Green Hill, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at South County Hospital. She was the former wife of the late Edward P. Flynn.Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Daniel L. and Rosalind M. (Beagan) Morrissey.Rosalind entered the Providence Police Department as a police officer in 1973, serving for 20 years, retiring in October of 1992 as a Sergeant. She was one of the first female patrol officers to actively patrol the city streets and communities alone. Rona was a member of the Providence Police Association, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 3, and the retired Providence and Firefighters Association. She was also a charter member of the Green Hill Acres Beach Club.She leaves her loving children, Rosalind M. Flynn, and her husband, Malcolm Poulin, of Silver Spring, MD, Edward P. Flynn, Jr., of Dana Point, CA, and Christine Fiore, and her husband, Tony, of Narragansett; and her nine beloved grandchildren and one great grandchild. She was the sister of John Morrissey, of Cape Cod, MA, Daniel Morrissey, of Green Hill, and Joseph Morrissey, of Charlestown. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 1:00 pm, in Saint James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck School House Road, Charlestown, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited.
