Ruth A. Iacobbo

Ruth A. (Pontarelli) Iacobbo, 88, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter R. Iacobbo, they were married for 42 years. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Domenic and Angela (Marciano) Pontarelli.

She was the devoted mother of Ronald F. Iacobbo, Stephen D. Iacobbo and his wife Maria, and Diane Luciano and her husband David. Cherished grandmother of Sarah, David, Ashley, Aaron, Samantha, and Gabrielle; and loving great-grandmother of Hunter and Jasmine. She was the sister of Raymond A. Pontarelli, Sr. She was also Step-Grandmother to James, Jonathan, and Alexandra Luciano, who held a special place in her heart.

A graduate of Hope High School class of 1954, Ruth was active in the student council, holding various positions including Vice President, President and Treasurer. Upon graduation, she was employed by the Providence Public School Department and continued working until her retirement in 2004.

Ruth was a very sociable person. She was a Member of the Daughters of Isabella organization. In her younger years you could find her dancing with friends or bowling with her Ladies bowling league. She was always up for a quick travel adventure with her friends (no GPS needed, of course) as she loved exploring new places. As her family grew, she loved spending time home with her children and grandchildren, sharing family meals and movie nights.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 from 9:00-10:00 AM from the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Graveside burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
