JOHNSTON - MAHER, Ruth E., 86, of Simmonsville Avenue, died Monday at home. She was the wife of the late Francis J. Maher, Sr. Born in Providence, the daughter of the late Harold and Emma E. (Lawton) Brennen, she had lived in Johnston for the past 47 years. Mrs. Maher was a life member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary-Roger Williams Post 35 in Providence. She was the beloved mother of Kathleen F. Taylor of Providence, Ruth O. DeVito and Madeline A. Maher both of North Providence, Elaine P. Maher of Johnston, and Deborah L. Petrucci of Cranston, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Francis J. Maher, Jr. Her funeral will be Saturday at 8am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Brigid Church 1231 Plainfield St., Johnston. Visitation Friday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations to V.A.M.C.-Brockton, Nursing Home Unit 4A, 940 Belmont St., Brockton, MA 02301, in her memory will be appreciated.
