She was a graduate of Hope High School and Boston University. She enjoyed an early career in advertising at firms W. Moseley in New York, and Bo Bernstein and Co. in Rhode Island. With her late husband of 37 years, Russell A. Ekeblad, Sheila raised three children and co-founded and owned Kenilworth Creations Inc and Ekko Inc. Sheila was a nationally recognized contract bridge player and avid golfer.
Sheila is survived by her children, Eric Soloff (Alexis) of Providence, RI, Rachel Soloff (Patrick Lavelle) of Lincoln, RI, and Elizabeth Ekeblad of New York, NY; her brother, Michael Bernstein (Mary) Rumford, RI, and grandchildren Zachary and Ryan.
Sheila will be remembered as a wonderfully devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend. Her gentle and kind heart, strong resolve, and unfailing sense of humor will be dearly missed.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2019 at Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, 458 Hope St., Providence, RI 02906, with burial to follow at Swan Point Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to New England Youth Bridge, Potter Animal League, or the charity of your choice. Shiva will be held at Swan Point Cemetery, the Grey Coale Room, 2:00-4:00PM.
