Stephen Edward Emidy, Jr., 78, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on July 13, 2020. He was the devoted husband of Mary (Mattimoe) Emidy. Mr. and Mrs. Emidy had been married for 53 years at the time of Stephen’s passing.
Born in 1942 in Pascoag Rhode Island, Stephen was the son of the late Dr. Stephen and Margaret (White) Emidy.
Stephen was a graduate of Burriville High School and Providence College. Stephen worked every day to better the lives of his fellow Rhode Island neighbors, employed as a Social Worker for the State of Rhode Island.
Stephen was a gentle soul, who loved his family deeply. Besides his wife Mary, Stephen is survived by his daughters, Christine Avelar and her husband Victor, Jennifer Emidy, his grandchildren, Myles, Melaina, Celia, Lauren, Marcus, and a sister, Joanne Greenlee. He was predeceased by his brother, John Emidy.
Stephen enjoyed his pets, bicycle riding, telling corny jokes, and listening to talk radio.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 30, at 10:00 am at St. Paul Church, 30 Warwick Avenue, Cranston. Burial to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Pascoag Main Rd., Pascoag.
