Stephen E. Iannetta, 68, of North Providence, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at home. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of the late Ernest and Rose (Iadevaia) Iannetta, and the devoted companion of the late Charlene (Rianna) Barron, with whom he shared 31 loving years before her passing in 2024.
Steve was a resident of North Providence for almost his entire life, graduating from North Providence High School in 1975. A skilled and dedicated professional, he was self-employed as a painting contractor for many years, earning the respect of his clients and peers alike. He was most recently employed as a foreman with Aramark and ABM Industries, where he remained until his retirement in 2024.
Above all, Steve cherished time spent with his family. He enjoyed going out to dinner, especially to Wine & Cheese and Twin Oaks restaurants, playing with his grandchildren, and watching the New England Patriots. He also found happiness in taking leisurely drives to Colt State Park in his red convertible Mustang and faithfully playing his daily lottery numbers, a ritual he rarely missed.
He was a loving father to Jason S. Iannetta and his wife, Caitlyn Dutcher; and a caring stepfather to Amy Barron and Danielle Barron and her husband, Jose. He took great pride in his role as “Papa” to his cherished grandchildren, Eleanora, Jonathan, and Desmond, who brought immense joy to his life.
Steve was the brother of Kenneth J. Iannetta and his fiancée, Susan, and the late Erna A. Howarth. He was also a beloved uncle to Jennifer Martone and her husband, Karl, and great-uncle to Dante.
Steve will be remembered for his sense of humor, his easy-going nature, and the love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and countless cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a service in the funeral home at 7:00 PM.
Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Steve’s memory may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in honor of Charlene, a tribute we know he would have deeply appreciated.
