

Narragansett:Devine, Walter A., 81, of Starr Drive, passed away on Wednesday at South County Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Rita C. (Lang) Devine.Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Charles A. and Gertrude E. (Doyle) Devine.Walter was a surveyor for the Rhode Island Department of Transportation for 36 years. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was an avid sports fan and was a standout pitcher for Central High School. He faithfully attended his grandchildren's sporting and academic events.Besides his wife, he was the devoted father of James E. Devine and his wife Mary of Richmond, Stephen A. Devine and his wife AnnMarie of Cranston, Karen A. Caouette of Cranston, Joan F. Rogers and her husband Raymond of Narragansett, and Carolyn Caouette and her husband Jean of North Providence. He is survived by a brother Charles Devine of Warwick, two sisters, Gertrude Kavanagh and Eleanor Clarkin, both of South Kingstown. He was the loving grandfather of eleven grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Henry Devine, Ethel Harris and Mildred Ransehousen. He is predeceased by his beloved son-in-law, Marcel Caouette.His funeral will be held on Monday at 8:15 am from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am in St. Veronica Chapel, 1035 Boston Neck Road, Narragansett. Burial with military honors, will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.Visiting hours, Sunday 4-7 pm In lieu of flowers, donations to De La Salle Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett, RI 02882, in his memory would be appreciated.
