We honor and celebrate the memory of Arcenio “Archie” Gomez, a longtime resident of the barrio of Dogpatch who passed away at his home last week. Archie was a Vietnam veteran, martial artist, and devoted fan of Elvis Presley. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, joking around, and spending time with his many nieces and nephews. One part John Belushi and one part Elvis, Archie had a great sense of humor and infectious laugh. His family will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his mother, Maria “Sally” Sisneros, step-father Serafin Tafoya, Father Melicio “Mike” Gomez, brothers Andres “Andy” Gomez and Fred Gallegos, and sister Priscilla Gomez-Peralta. We love you Uncle Archie, may you rest in peace.
“There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me.”
-Peace in the Valley, Elvis Presley
“What? Over? Did you say “over?” Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”
-Animal House, John Belushi
