Damon Wayne Sharp passed away peacefully at his home on May 30, 2019. He was born July 25, 1945 to Taylor Browning and Anita Irene Sharp in Austin, Texas. Damon and his brothers were raised along the Blanco River in Blanco, Texas where he developed his love for the outdoors. After graduating from Blanco High School, he joined the Air Force, He served with distinction and rose to the rank of Sergeant. He served in Turkey and Germany and upon returning to the states, he worked in construction as a commercial journeyman plumber in Austin. Damon married Alice Mertz in 1968, they along with her 2 children, Tonia and Randy, moved to Colorado Springs in 1978. In 1985 he bought a home in Penrose. Damon was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved to hunt deer, elk and pheasant. He was also an active member of the VFW and avid supporter of America’s military. Damon was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Ray Sharp of Austin, Texas, and Fred Joe Sharp of Westcliffe, CO. Damon is survived by his daughter Tonia Jones of Austin, Texas and her husband Nathan; his son Randy Sharp of Moses Lake, Washington; granddaughters, Heather Klingensmith and Crystal Broussard; 2 great granddaughters; and sister, Madeline Louise Meyers of San Antonio, Texas. The Sharp Family would like to express their sincere love and appreciation to Donna Moore for her years of friendship and companionship to Damon.
