Daniel Leroy Martinez Jr.

Daniel “Danny” Leroy Martinez Jr., a lifelong resident of Walsenburg, passed away on February 16, 2026. Born on October 18, 1956, to Dan and Eileen Martinez, Danny was a proud 1974 graduate of Walsenburg High School.

A painter by trade, Danny was known for his skilled hands and hard work. He most recently served his community through his work with the City of Walsenburg. Beyond his professional life, Danny was a man of deep loyalty—to his family, his many friends, and the Bandido Nation.

Danny was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Dan and Eileen; his sisters, Donna Martinez and Sandra Garcia; his brother-in-law, Isaac Garcia; and sister-in-law, Dene Martinez. He joins his grandparents, Alex and Pina Martinez and Andy and Martha Tenorio, as well as his in-laws, Charles and Emma Agnes, Charlene and Albert Anselmo, and niece Kimberly Anselmo, along with many dear uncles and extended family members.

He is survived by: His loving partner: Rebecca Salazar. Family: Fredric (Tammy) Salazar, Robert Salazar, and Brandy Salazar. Grandchildren: Austin Eccher Salazar, Anthony Palamsano Salazar, Jaylee Salazar, and Sergio Eccher Salazar. Great-Grandchildren: Kassius James and Gianna Adeline. Siblings: Brothers Larry (Sandra) Martinez and family, Lenny Martinez and family, and sister Tonnie (Bill) Armijo and family. In-laws: Gary (Barbara) Agnes and Nicholas Agnes. Special Niece: Sherri (Joe) Faris and their children, Kylee Jo and Wyatt Faris.

Danny also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends who will miss his presence dearly.

Funeral services will be March 14, 2026, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 121 East 7th St. Walsenburg, CO 81089 at 10:00 AM.
