Dario Alvarez Vela

Dario Alvarez Vela, 92, passed into eternal peace on November 08, 2019 in Florence, CO. He was born to Mexican Immigrants in La Junta, CO in 1927, where he begin his life journey. Dario enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1946 at the age of 19, where he serviced as a supply clerk at Eglin Field Florida and received the World War II Victory Medal. After serving in the Air Corps Dario met his wife of 25 years Lois B. Rhoades in Pueblo, CO. They married on July 13, 1953 in Raton, NM. Dario's occupation was a steel worker at CF&I, where he retired after 35 years. During his married life, he became a father to six children, who he provided for with diligence. He taught his children life skills such as the importance of working to earn a living and providing for their families. After retirement Dario moved to Florence and he resided there at his home until he joined his heavenly father. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dario D. Vela and Paula G. Alvarez. Survived by children, Russell A. (Rhonda) Vela, Karl A. Vela, Kari S. (Tom) Martinez, Derek A. (Brenda) Vela, Doria A. Vela, and Traci L. Vela; grandchildren, Reuben (April Vela, Karlos (Dee) Vela,. Robin Bonzon, Ivan (Michelle) Vela, Isaac (Tiyana) Vela, Monique (William) Stone, Raven (Eric) Heidrich, and Kirk Vela; great grandchildren, Kiera Tafoya, Daniel Tafoya, Karlos Tafoya Jr., Anabella Tafoya, Tristan Bonzon, Elijah Vela, Priscilla Vela, Zion Vela, and Aurora Heidrich.

Funeral Service will be at 9 a.m., Thursday, November 14, 2019 at TG McCarthy Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery La Junta, CO.
