Duane Arvin Winter passed away March 24th at the Hospice House in Pueblo Colorado. He was 81 years old. Born November 29,1939 in the farming community of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, he was the son of Herbert E. Winter & Theresa K Schimke. He graduated from Wessington Springs High school and went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He then attended & graduated from SDSU with a Bachelor's degree.
He was married to June Darlene Hanson for 20 years from 1961-1981, & Anna Mae Orazem from 1987-2003. He worked for many years as a Pharmaceutical salesman. He then went on to do landscaping and worked for the Colorado City Metro.
He enjoyed his later years in his A-frame home in Colorado City with a wonderful mountain and lake view. Socializing with friends and family, gardening, and reading Western novels. He will be remembered as a tough ole cowboy with a big bark and a big heart.
Duane is survived by his brother, Bob Winter, sister Gerri Barta, his daughter Kimberly Orazem, and four grandchildren: Ginny Rae Moser, Gavin Edward Larson, Ryan John Alvarado & Cierra June Alvarado.
