

Ed traveled to Alaska in the Army and flew all over the state to remote villages before there were airports. He was honorably discharged and continued for several years in the Army Reserves. Ed obtained his bachelor's degree in civil engineering and worked as an engineer for over 50 years. He worked as a professional engineer (PE) in Colorado, Texas, Kansas, and Wyoming. He also lived and traveled all over the world, helping with irrigation, dams, and water rights in countries such as Yemen, Turkey, Greece, Guatemala, Pakistan and the Philippines.
He was an avid runner most of his life. He ran in the ultra-marathons Western States 100 and the Leadville 100. He completed the Tough Mudder at age 81. He participated in burro racing. He hiked many of the Colorado 14,000’er peaks. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, being an active member of his church and community. He was a long-time Optimist Club member, he volunteered in Uganda, and tutored youth through the church after school.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ronald and Anna, first wife Pauline, second wife Stephanie, daughter Evelyn, sister Ruth (Walter) Weller, and brother Alan. He is survived by his children; Frank, Ed Jr. (Catherine Shenk), Steve, Dorothy (John) Pender, and Karen, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He will be greatly missed by so many. He always encouraged education was always smiling and had a positive outlook on life.
The funeral service will be held at held Friday, November 8, 2024 1 pm at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver, CO 80236
A Potluck Reception to share memories will follow at Hillside Community Church, 8085 E Hampden Ave, Denver CO 80231
