Evelyn Louise Poteet

Evelyn Poteet, 102, passed away February 24, 2020. She was born January 24, 1918 in Columbus, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents William and Laura Reese, brothers, Charles and Donald Reese, and granddaughter Denise Elaine Selby.

Survived by her husband of 60 years, James M. Poteet, sons James (Patt) Selby of Canon City, Lee (Teresa) Poteet, daughters Elaine (John) Lucas and Johnetta (Dennis) Quillen of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Vicki (Dan) Glover of Pueblo, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Evelyn was a member of Sweet Adelines for fifty years, and was a past president. She sang with two different quartets, the Capercords and the Satellites. She was past president of the Ladies' Auxiliary of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, past Worth Matron of Fidelity Chapter No. 144 of the Order of Eastern Star. Evelyn was a member of the Kwik Knits Machine Knitter Club and enjoyed the crafts of sewing, knitting, and embroidery and made numerous dolls for the Police Department to hand out to the children. Evelyn retired as Psychiatric Technician from Colorado State Hospital.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 3 at 12pm with funeral to follow at Imperial Funeral Home

Best Aunt anyone could ask for! Her smile could light up your heart ❤️ Her laughter had a mischievous tone as her eyes would twinkle. She was fascinating, talented and a great conversationalist. We could talk for hours. I feel privileged to have had her in my life, especially for so long. Rest in sweet peace 💕
