Francis W. Doran

Francis W. “Jim” Doran, 94, passed away March 8, 2011. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dora Helen “Pat” Doran; brothers, Edward and Fredrick Doran; parents, Edward F. and Ella Doran. Jim is survived by his children, Carol (Robert) Ackworth, and Paul Doran; grandchildren, Joshua (Sandra) Ackworth, Cassie Ackworth (Jeremey), Nicole (John) Carrillo, Jennifer (Paul) Welte, Robert Highberger, and seven great-grandchildren. Jim retired from the Colorado State Hospital in 1980, where he was head of the accounts payable department for 42 years. Jim was a loving family man who always put the needs of his family first. He was an avid fisherman, and loved being in the mountains. He enjoyed yard work and planting tomatoes and roses for his family. Jim made friends easily, and never knew a stranger. Jim and Pat were one of the founding families at St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was an usher for many years, and continued to be a parishioner for fifty plus years before his death. Jim received the most gentle, loving, and compassionate care from Sharmar Care Center, where he resided for the last three years. A special thank you for the love he received there. Viewing, 4-6 p.m., Thursday, at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home. Rosary will be 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass, 10 a.m., Friday, March 11, 2011, at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice in Jim’s memory through the funeral home office.
