A Pueblo native born during the height of the depression, he learned to work hard at an early age tending the farm animals and raising crops. As the only boy, he talked about being the last to bathe after his sisters. An active member of 4H, he won many ribbons and awards for his vegetables, including a scholarship to college.
Harold graduated from Central High School and then went on to Colorado A & M where he majored in Fine Arts. Harold met the love of his life; Patricia, and they were married soon after graduation. A short time later he was drafted into the Army and shipped to Korea.
Upon returning from Korea, Harold attended Colorado College and earned a Masters in Education. He then started a life-long career in education and worked as a Special Education teacher. The family soon grew with five children and various moves along the front range. They finally settled back in Pueblo where Harold worked as an administrator in the local school district.
Harold enjoyed gardening and always had fresh vegetables on the table. He loved camping and the family spent many weekends in the Colorado Mountains. His love of woodworking soon grew into a side career in craft shows. In later years, the couple traveled using the craft shows as an excuse.
