Joe Casimiro Silverio Jimenez, age 88, passed away on January 25, 2026. A man defined by hard work, service, and an unwavering devotion to his family, Joe leaves behind a legacy of resilience and laughter.
Born in 1937 in Tucumcari, New Mexico, Joe learned the value of a day’s labor early in life. As a young man, he worked the fields picking cotton, potatoes, and broom straw, and even assisted his father on a chuck wagon for a fencing crew.
At the age of 16, Joe joined the U.S. Army. While serving his country, he married his childhood sweetheart, Angelina, at the age of 19. After nine years of military service, the couple moved to Pueblo, Colorado, in 1963.
Joe dedicated 28 years to the U.S. Post Office, beginning in 1964. He was a staunch advocate for his peers, serving as the Main Griever and President of the N.A.L.C. Branch 229 Letter Carriers Union. Following his retirement from the Post Office in 1992, he continued to serve his community as the head maintenance technician for Holy Family Church and later as a security guard. He fully retired in 2006 to embrace his favorite role: being a full-time grandpa.
Joe was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He had a zest for life and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies, including cooking, gardening, golfing, and watching Star Trek. He was a lover of music—specifically Spanish, Motown, and the Blues—and was well-known for his sense of humor and his readiness to help anyone in need.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Epimerio and Rita Jimenez;his beloved wife, Angelina Jimenez; his sisters, Genevieve Sandoval, Beulah Salas, Rita Montiel, and Ida Kent; and his brothers, Don, Ernie, and Henry Jimenez.
He is survived by, his son, Paul Rivera (Leslie); his sister, Anna Lee Benson (Frank); grandchildren, Jaylen Rivera (Adrianna) and Jaren Rivera, as well as many beloved extended families, including numerous nieces and nephews
Joe will be remembered as a man who loved his family above all else. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Imperial Funeral Home, located at 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, CO 81005, on February 5, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
The funeral mass will take place at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2827 Lakeview Ave, Pueblo, CO 81005, on February 6, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.Graveside services will follow at Imperial Memorial Gardens, 5450 at 11:00 am, followed by a luncheon reception will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church parish hall.
