Joe Edward Montes

Joe E. Montes, 89, went unexpectedly and peacefully with very little suffering Nov. 15, 2021.He was an extraordinarily dynamic man. One of the first Hispanic Engineers in Pueblo, who obtained his degree while raising seven very young children with his loving wife, acting as grievance man for steel workers and coaching softball. He worked as a department manager at Crown Discount Center, store manager at Kwik Way, Certified Mechanical Engineer and Safety Team Supervisor at Public Service Company/Comanche Power Plant,and retired Precision Tool Engineer for Dana (Triplex) Corporation. He was also an avid sports fan, outdoorsman, a frequent 600 game team bowler and a great husband, wonderful father to his children, a literal patriarch to eighty-eight family souls. He was preceded in death by his loving wife; Dora L. (Pacheco) Montes, and son Stephen "Stevie" Montes. Survived by sister Barbara Sena and In-laws Roberta (Mike) Esquibel; children; Yvonne (Richard) Ballejos, Elishevah (Chris Montes) Sepulveda, Joe (Jennifer) Montes, Bernadette Montes-Algien, Rick (Christy) Montes and Yvette Montes. Thirty grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren, and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. He will be sorrowfully missed and we rejoice in having been his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom he knew and loved. It was a privilege, blessing and an honor to be raised by you. We will miss you very much "Joe Cool". We 'll love you forever..forever.

A viewing for Joe will be held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Imperial Memorial Chapel, 5450 Highway 78 West, Pueblo, Colorado 81005. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, 414 W. 11th Street, Pueblo, Colorado 81003.
