John A. Kovalcik passed into his eternal life on June 25, 2018 surrounded by his family. He was born March 22, 1933 to John and Elsie (Kusiolek) Kovalcik whom preceed him in death along with his wife of 62 years Rosalie (Marino) Kovalcik; siblings, Nellie, Lucy, Kay, Pearl, Praxie, Stanly, and Jerome; as well as many brother and sister-in-laws. Survived by brother, Edward Kovalcik of Delmont, Pennsylvania and sister, Helen Pavliak of South Carolina. Children, Douglas (Daiquiri) Kovalcik and Cynthia (Richard) Anglud. Grandchildren, Luke Kovalcik, Dallas (Lauren) Cody, Joshua (Susan) Cody and Savanah Anglund. Great grandchildren, Aidan, Vera, Elowyn, Gwen, Gavin, and Notan. Sister-in-law, Anthoniette (Ann) Goff; brother-in-law, Richard (Shirley) Marino. Many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
John was a hardworking man, a jack of all trades and a perfectionist in all he did. He was always helping someone out. John never met a stranger, he had a smile and a hand shake for everyone he met. You couldn’t help but to love those twinkling blue eyes.
John grew up in Delmont, Pennsylvania on a dairy farm where the work was hard and never ending. He graduated from Franklin Township High school in Murrysville, Pennsylvania in 1950.
John was drafted into the Army at the age of 18 during the Korean conflict. He was honorably discharged as a CPL in 1953 and received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
During his service he was stationed at Fort Carson. During that time he had attended a dance in Pueblo where he met his wife to-be. John and Rosalie married on July 23, 1955. They had two children. They were blessed to celebrate 62 years of marriage. John worked for Westinghouse, Mountain Bell, then later developed his own company Colorado Sun Communication. In his early years John was an avid baseball player, bowler, golfer and fisherman. He enjoyed watching the Pittsburg Steelers, Denver Broncos and The Rockies. John also enjoyed his many trips to Cripple Creek and always had amazing luck!
John adored his children and grandchildren. He was always there to lend a helping hand or give a hug. He will truly be missed by all who were fortunate to know him. Memorial service will be held Thursday, July 5th at 10:00 am at Imperial Funeral Home. Lunch reception immediately to follow at the Fellowship of the Rockies, 3892 W Northern Ave.
