

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Jose Antonio “Tony” Cruz-Hernandez, 92. He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 23, 2024. He was the loving and dedicated husband of Bernice Cruz, whom he had been married to for 66 years.
Tony was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico. He proudly served his country in the Army branch for 20 years, where he held the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. He served in both the Vietnam and Korean War. After his military service, Tony went on to work for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father and grandfather. Tony enjoyed playing bingo in his younger days, trips to Cripple Creek, loved going to his grandson Jordan’s games and loved his wife’s cooking.
Tony was predeceased by his wife Bernice Cruz; parents Maria Hernandez and Clemente Cruz-Hernandez; siblings Adelaida Velasquez, Mary Cruz-Hernandez, Blanca Nieves, Manuel Cruz-Hernandez, Diego Cruz-Hernandez , Ismael Cruz-Hernandez and Guillermo Cruz-Hernandez ; and daughter Rosa Leon. He is survived by his children, Luis Cruz, Anna (Michael) Noland, and Tony Cruz; Grandchildren, Yolanda Leon, Rachel Leon, Jacob (Paula) Cruz, Fabian (Emily) Cruz, Jenae (Ryan) Armijo and Jordan Cruz, Jayde Noland, Brooklynn Noland; Great-Grandchildren, Brianna Gomes, Jazmine Gomes, Isaiah Gomes, Mario Delgado, Brian Hudson, Cisco Delgado, Jaila Armijo, Frankie Jo Armijo, Gia Cruz, Natalia Cruz, Zakai Cruz, Arianna Cruz and Damian Cruz. He also leaves behind former daughter-in-laws, Gerri and Paulette Cruz and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Sangre De Cristo Hospice for their loving care and dignity they gave our father during his final days. We are forever grateful.
A funeral service with military honors will be held on Wednesday July 3, 2024, at Imperial Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, located in Pueblo. Viewing will be held from 9am-10am, Rosary at 10am, Eulogy at 10:30 am followed by graveside service. The family welcomes you to join them for a reception at the hall located at Imperial Funeral home.
